Observational Clinical Trials

In observational studies, researchers monitor participants without assigning specific treatments. Instead, they collect data on health outcomes in natural settings to understand disease progression, treatment effects, or risk factors without interfering with participants’ regular care.

Interventional Clinical Trials

In interventional trials, researchers actively assign participants to receive specific interventions — such as a new drug, procedure, or behavioral change — to study their effects on health outcomes. These trials often compare new treatments against standard treatments, placebos, or no intervention at all.
